Wordy Wednesday

We've got lots and lots to say today, first of all we got tagged for the 6 Word Memoir by our super defender friend Tesla.

1) Write your own six word memoir.
2) Post it on your blog and include a visual illustration if you’d like.
3) Link to the person that tagged you in your post, and to the original post if possible so we can track it as it travels across the blogosphere.
4) Tag at least five more blogs with links.
5) Don’t forget to leave a comment on the tagged blogs with an invitation to play.
6) Have fun!!

So, here it goes...

Pearl:
Tortie princess loves playing and hunting.

Bert:
Quiet but speedy Tuxedo sleeps high-up.

Jake:
Floofy ManCat loves to lounge about.

We're pretty sure that most everyone has done this meme, but consider yourself tagged if you haven't!

Then we thought it would be funny to find our what kind of celebrities we would all be...

Pearl:
What celebrity would your pet be? I'm Paris Hilton! Find out at Catster.com

Bert:
What celebrity would your pet be? I'm Will Smith! Find out at Catster.com

Jake:
What celebrity would your pet be? I'm Al Gore! Find out at Catster.com

George:
What celebrity would your pet be? I'm Madonna! Find out at Dogster.com

And most importantly, we're all purring and purraying for our friends Storm, who's lymphoma has returned. The good news is that she fought last time and won the battle, the bad news is that the war is not over and she has to fight again.

We're purring soooo very hard for her. This horrible disease has taken too many kitties, including our big sister and brother. So let's all purr and give Storm the strength to beat this awful thing!

We're also purring for Moki's brother Orange Boy, he got the bitey from a rattle snake! The good news is that he seems to be healing, but he still needs your purrs.

Go Bert Go!

We love our yard, and we love all the edible fuzzy creatures that live in it. At this time of year all the little snacks creatures are coming out of their burrows to eat and play and enjoy the spring. And that means there's lots of things to chase:

Sadly, Mommy thought I was done chasing so she turned off the video - even sadder still (for me anyway) I did not manage to catch that squirrel (though I'm sure he's quite pleased about it)!

A ManCat needs his rest, now I'm going to have to sleep all day Monday just to make it all up.

Catching Up

The kitties said that we've been getting behind in a few things, so they said I could take care of the catching up (especially since I get to do a meme!)...

A while ago the very talented Diamond and her Bean made these really cool digital scrapbook pages for us:

Diamond's Bean is very good at the digital scrapbooking and has done many other kitties and woofies, we're so proud to be part of her amazing artwork!

Also, Criz was kind enough to make this badge for us, just for being worried and purring (well I woofed) for Mama Jessica! We were ever so worried for her (a family needs a Mama), but now she's back and everything is better.

And finally, the superest White Dawg around has tagged me for a meme, here are the rules:

1) Write your own six word memoir.
2) Post it on your blog and include a visual illustration if you’d like.
3) Link to the person that tagged you in your post, and to the original post if possible so we can track it as it travels across the blogosphere.
4) Tag at least five more blogs with links.
5) Don’t forget to leave a comment on the tagged blogs with an invitation to play.
6) Have fun!!

Oh I'm so excited - I've never done a meme, I think - wait what's a meme? Oh right, focus - six words...

Terrier terror who loves her family!

I'd like to tag my friends Asta, Hershey & Kaci, Cami and her kitties, Diamond Dog and Diamond Emerald Eyes !

Practical Thursday

Everykitty really seemed to enjoy last week's poem from "Old Possum's Book of Practical Cats", so we thought we'd post one of the poems every Thursday! What many of you kitties may not know is that this collection of poems is the basis for the musical "Cats", so you may recognize some of the words. We hope you enjoy this week, and the next 13 weeks of "Old Possum's Book of Practical Cats".

THE OLD GUMBIE CAT
I have a Gumbie Cat in mind, her name is Jennyanydots;
Her coat is of the tabby kind, with tiger stripes and leopard spots.
All day she sits upon the stair or on the steps or on the mat:
She sits and sits and sits and sits—and that's what makes a Gumbie Cat!

But when the day's hustle and bustle is done,
Then the Gumbie Cat's work is but hardly begun.
And when all the family's in bed and asleep,
She slips down the stairs to the basement to creep.
She is deeply concerned with the ways of the mice—
      Their behavior's not good and their manners not nice;
So when she has got them lined up on the matting,
She teaches them music, crocheting and tatting.

I have a Gumbie Cat in mind, her name is Jennyanydots;
Her equal would be hard to find, she likes the warm and sunny spots.
All day she sits beside the hearth or in the sun or on my hat:
She sits and sits and sits and sits—and that's what makes a Gumbie Cat!

But when the day's hustle and bustle is done,
Then the Gumbie Cat's work is but hardly begun.
As she finds that the mice will not ever keep quiet,
She is sure it is due to irregular diet
And believing that nothing is done without trying,
She sets straight to work with her baking and frying.
She makes them a mouse-cake of bread and dried peas,
And a beautiful fry of lean bacon and cheese.

I have a Gumbie Cat in mind, her name is Jennyanydots;
The curtain-cord she likes to wind, and tie it into sailor-knots.
She sits upon the window-sill, or anything that's smooth and flat:
She sits and sits and sits and sits—and that's what makes a Gumbie Cat!

But when the day's hustle and bustle is done,
Then the Gumbie Cat's work is but hardly begun.
She thinks that the cockroaches just need employment
To prevent them from idle and wanton destroyment.
So she's formed, from that lot of disorderly louts,
      A troop of well-disciplined helpful boy-scouts,
With a purpose in life and a good deed to do—
And she's even created a Beetles' Tattoo.

So for Old Gumbie Cats let us now give three cheers—
On whom well-ordered households depend it appears.

Gotcha!

It's my Gotcha Day-aversary! Two years ago my Mommy and Daddy came with their friend Miss V (who has always really wanted a kitten, but her Mom and Dad are allergic) to get me!

The nice Shelter Lady knew that Mommy and Daddy were looking for a new Tuxie Boy "B" kitty, so when my friend "Cash" and I came to the shelter, she called them right away. And the very next Saturday Mommy, Daddy and Miss V got in the car and drove to find the right kitty.

When they walked in Mommy knew right away, I was the one!! I was going to have a forever home!

Here's me with Miss V - she's so happy that I'm going home with Mommy and Daddy!

Here we are in the car - I was crying a lot, so Miss V thought I might need a little hug.

And here's my very first video - I had only been home for three days!

(no, it's not on fast forward - I really do move that fast!)

The Rare Tuxie Bird

Daddy: "Hey Hon, could you pass me the binoculars?"
Mommy: "Sure, what are you looking at?"
Daddy: "There's a huge bird in that tree over there."
Mommy: "Oh, I see it - what kind is it?"

Daddy: "It looks like the very rare White Footed Tuxie bird!"

Finally Friday #4

It's finally Friday, which means that Mommy finally had time to help us open our presents that came this week!

On Wednesday we got a package from Chance for the April Swap 'n Tails. He was so nice, he was only supposed to send one present for us, but he sent four - one for each of us, including George (and a really cool card that had a nip fish on it!)!!! And on Thursday we got a super prize package from KC and ML for winning second place in the Squillion Day contest! Look at all this cool stuff...

Chance this is a great Cat Dancer - see I'm dancing!

Pearl's enjoying the pink ring toy - it works best on the tile!

Hey George, go play with that cool bone toy you got and give me back my real-live-dead shrimp toy!

Here's the present for Mommy - it's a cool Asian lucky Cat. She really loved it, she's always wanted one! We think she should live with Sammy on the window sill (and we think she's a she because she's pink), but we're going to need a name for her.

And here's George, modeling the super bandanna from KC and a KC reporter badge (cause Georgie is a big supporter of the blogosphere!) - isn't she being a good girl?

Thank you all sooooo much, as always our kitty friends are awesome!!!! If we weren't spoiled before, we are now!

The Naming of Cats

This is one of Mommy's most favorite poems. It's part of the collection "Old Possum's Book of Practical Cats" by T.S. Elliot. This is for Fagin and all the Purrageous Family!

THE NAMING OF CATS
The Naming of Cats is a difficult matter,
      It isn't just one of your holiday games;
You may thing at first I'm as mad as a hatter
When I tell you, a cat must have THREE DIFFERENT NAMES.
First of all, there's the name that the family use daily,
Such as Peter, Augustus, Alonzo or James
Such as Victor or Jonathan, George or Bill Bailey—
All of them sensible everyday names.
There are fancier names if you think they sound sweeter,
Some for the gentlemen, some for the dames:
Such as Plato, Admetus, Electra, Demeter—
But all of them sensible everyday names.
But I tell you, a cat needs a name that's particular,
A name that's peculiar, and more dignified,
Else how can he keep his tail perpendicular,
Or spread out his whiskers, or cherish his pride?
Of names of this kind, I can give you a quorum,
Such as Munkustrap, Quaxo, or Coricopat,
Such as Bombalurina, or else Jellylorum—
Names that never belong to more than one cat.
But above and beyond there;s still one name left over,
      And that is the name that you never will guess;
The name that no human research can discover—
But THE CAT HIMSELF KNOWS, and will never confess.
When you notice a cat in profound meditation,
The reason, I tell you, is always the same:
His mind is engaged in a rapt contemplation
Of the thought, of the thought, of the thought of his name:
          His ineffable effable
          Effanineffable
Deep and inscrutable singular Name.

We hope that the Purrageous Mom is feeling more hopeful and is going to get back to blogging as soon as she is ready!

Wordless Wednesday

Well, a few words, words like:

"Get away from my Daddy you big stinky dog (even if there is bacon on that plate)!"

Tortie Terror

There I was, just minding my own business, when this evil cushion decided to attack me!

So I gave it the bitey and a bit of a bunny-kick to show it who's boss...

Take that evil cushion! And that!

That should take care of it! Now I'll just settle down to continue my nap (and keep and eye on this cushion).

Sad Days

"When sorrows come, they come not single spies,
but in battalions".
- Hamlet Quote Act IV, Scene V

It has been a sad weekend around the blogosphere. Our friends are hurting, and we hurt for them. We are purring for Mom Laura, Lilly Lu, Mu Shue and Iris...

UPDATE! They are safe - make sure to visit the Cat Blogosphere for information on how to write a letter of thanks to the brave officers that rescued them!

And of course we are purring for Miral's family...

Remember

Remember me when I am gone away,
When you can no more hold me by the hand,
Nor I half turn to go, yet turning stay.
Remember me when no more day by day
You tell me of our future that you plann'd:
Only remember me; you understand
It will be late to counsel then or pray.
Yet if you should forget me for a while
And afterwards remember, do not grieve:
For if the darkness and corruption leave
A vestige of the thoughts that once I had,
Better by far you should forget and smile
Than that you should remember and be sad.
- Christina Rossetti

Purrs to one and all,

Friday Memes

We've been tagged for a couple of memes recently and we haven't gotten them done, so we're going to play catch-up today!

Bert's darling Tazo tagged us for the Make A Wish Meme a while back. Since we'd already done it, we decided to let Mommy and Daddy make a wish this time!

The Rules
1. Think about what it is that you want more than anything, what your heart's desire and fondest wish is, and what it is that you would wish for if you were to see the above wishing star flame across the night sky.

2. Right click and SAVE the blank graphic below.

3. Use a graphics program of your choice and place your wish on the picture.

4. Post the Make A Wish Meme and your wishing star on your blog along with these rules.

5. Tag as many people as you like so that there can be wishing stars all across the Blogosphere and ask them to please link back to Linda so that we can see what wishes others have made and share those wishes with others.

Then Vincent and Mike tagged us for the book meme!

Here's the rules:
Pick up the nearest book.
Open to page 123
Find the fifth sentence.
Post the next three sentences.
Tag five people and post a comment to Mickey once you have posted it.

So page 123 of Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire:

"Fred, George and Ginny were nowhere to be seen, thought the path was packed with plenty of other people, all looking nervously over their shoulders toward the commotion of the campsite. A huddle of teenagers in pajamas was arguing vociferously a little along the path. When they saw Harry, Ron and Hermione, a girl with thick curly hair turned and said quickly, 'Ou est Madame Maxime?'"

We'd like to tag Dante & Capt. Jack, everyone over at Jan's Funny Farm, Queen Snickers & Empress (and Reena - but we're not sure if she's old enough to read yet), LC, Skeeter & Ayla, and Tesla for which ever ones they want to do (or haven't done)!

Have a super weekend kitties!
Pearl, Bert and Jake

P.S. Don't forget the Comentathon over at Grr, Midnight & Cocoa's on Sunday

Tuxie Toesday

Most of my toe pads are black (which is kind of funny considering that the tops of my toes are white), but these two are pink! Mommy always says it looks like I walked over an ink pad.

Mail Call Monday

Wow - another mail-rific weekend! We got a package in the mail on Friday from Samantha and Mr. Tigger, for winning their 400th post scavenger hunt. And then on Saturday a package arrived from Beau. Unfortunately we Mommy and Daddy were busy all weekend, so we didn't get to open anything till just this morning!

First we opened the package from Samantha and Mr. Tigger - Pearl decided to check out the packaging first.

Nope - nothing left in here!

Then Bert looked over all the goodies:

Wowie look at all this cool stuff

There's a super cool "Self Warming" mat (that Pearl has already claimed as her own) and three different toys, a fev-ver butt, a cat nip and a stringy frog toy - they are all super! Thanks so much you guys, this is so cool!

Now, Mommy didn't let us help open the second package, cause it was fragile. But look what was inside, our very own squillion kitten! We've named him Sammy, short for Samich (which is the same name as our virtual squillion, but we think it will be easy enough to keep them straight).

Here's Sammy hanging out on the boogie mat

Pearl decided that she really liked him, she wanted to play - she even tried to bunny kick him!

I thought I'd better check him out, since I'm the ManCat of the house. I snuggled right up to him and gave him a nice hello.

It's ok little buddy, I'll take care of you

That was enough excitement for Sammy, so he decided to decided to check out our kitty grass, but he didn't really like it. But he did really like the window sill, so we've decided that it can be his regular home.
