Wordy Wednesday

I wanted to start by thanking all the super kitties that stopped by and had some fun at my birthday party yesterday! I hope everykitty had a really great time! Mommy and I will do our best to get around to everyone's bloggie as soon as we can.

But now that the celebration is over, Mommy and I wanted to share a little something special about my birthday. Because there's more than just my birthday that we celebrate on September first.

On the first of September in 2005 my sister Purdy went to the Bridge. She had only been really sick for a few weeks, but she was diagnosed with Lymphoma and it didn't take long before she had to go. She was my Mommy and Daddy's very first kitty and all of our family loved her - our Grandpa was so very sad, and our Auntie was heartbroken along with Mommy and Daddy.

One of the worst parts is that Purdy went to the Bridge on our Auntie and Uncle's wedding anniversary. So it made a happy day very sad.

When Mommy and Daddy adopted me in January I was about three months old, so that would have put my birthday somewhere around October. But my Mommy thought that purrhaps it would be better to celebrate my birthday on September First instead. That way the happy day wouldn't be quite so sad anymore, and Purdy's passing wouldn't be as sad either.

Here's a picture of Purdy from a long time ago:

Thanks for listening kitties - and sharing our special day.

- Pearl

Purdy was absolutely beautiful. I think its wonderful that through you your family is able to remember Purdy. Mommy tries to assign us birthdays that she will remember and she often used the birthdays of those who have passed on as a way to remember them.

That's a nice story and an excellent reason to celebrate your birthday early (besides, that means you get you birthday presents early).

I left you an award today. (http://jaspermckittencat.blogspot.com/2008/09/thankful-thursday.html)
