Wow-Wee

We were gonna make this a Wordless Wednesday, but then we realized that it was too much fun not to tell the story about this little guy.

Bert and I found this guy on Sunday while Mommy was "gardening" (which really means her digging around and throwing things and using words from the bad word list). So Mommy thought she'd take a picture of this toad since he was so cute. But then he jumped and Mommy screamed - really loud, so loud that Daddy came running and had to carry off our toy!

We went on our merry way - out and about in the garden, just enjoying the day. And not long after that we heard another scream! This time Mommy dug up another toad and accidentally touched it. She was so freaked out she ran into the house and finished "gardening" for the day - hee hee hee!!!

Birthday Bash Weekend

SURPRISE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Happy Birthday Bert and Mommy!!!!!!

Did we surprise you? Did all the kitties keep it quiet?! It's Bert's 3rd birthday on Sunday and Mommy's 30-something-ish birthday on Monday :-) But we're all excited to celebrate this weekend with all of our friends, so come on in and enjoy!

Now since this party is for kitties and 'beins (and of course woofies, hammies and any other creature that would like to join us) we figured we'd better have food for everyone!

So to eat there's:
Roast Beef Sandwiches
Turkey
Salmon
Hamburgers
Shrimp
And of course Ham!

To Drink:

Niptinis for all the kitties that are "of age"

A little milk for all the kittens (no underage drinking here!)
And Mommy's favorite for all the 'beins

We hope you all have a great time!!!!!

Missing Mommy

Sigh... here's a picture of me on Mommy's lap, I sure do miss her.

I've barely had any lap time since Mommy left, Jake takes all of Daddy's lap time.

At least Daddy's been remembering to feed us, I guess that's good. But gosh I can't wait to see her tonight when she gets back!

Mad ManCat Monday

I'm thinking I must have mis-heard Mommy, she couldn't possibly be leaving us again!

It is just a long weekend and Daddy will be staying home with us, but still - we're a bit hissed off!

She says she's going to visit some Mouse in Los Angeles, so she'd better bring us something good like George and the Crew got!

Oh we almost forgot - Gung Hey Fat Choy! Happy Chinese New Year! And Happy Year of the Ox (our Daddy is an Ox - in the Chinese zodiac sense that is ;-)

- Bert

p.s. I have an update - I did have to go to the V-E-T, but he was fairly nice and only gave me one shot of steroids. He thinks it's probably stress too, but the steroids could make me feel better and if it's an allergy then the shot will definitely make me feel better. So, no e-collar or onesie yet, but I'm still under a "grooming" watch.

Miffed Mommy Monday

So Mommy is a bit miffed! The other night some mean lady said that I was fat for a girl kitty! Mommy was very offended, since I am not a very big kitty. I mean, I weigh like 7 and a half pounds soaking wet - sometimes I look big, but it's just floof! Then the lady said that my brothers are fat - can you imagine?! Two such handsome, perfectly weighted ManCats - fat?! Sure Jake is almost 16 pounds, but he's a Maine Coon. And Bert's 11 pounds and he looks very lean and panther-y.

Then the lady said her kitten was only 5 pounds, and Mommy said "you just wait till he gets full sized!" But she was still ticked that the lady called me fat.

So how much do all you kitties weigh (if you don't mind me asking)? Was Mommy right to be hissed off?

Mommy is Broken

We just found out that our Granddaddy passed away last night. And now our Mommy is very broken. She's going to be gone for a while, she has to go back to California to be with her family - so we'll be gone for a while too. Hopefully we'll be able to visit and post soon - but right now we gotta go sit on our Mommy and purr a lot.

What is THIS?

Are you kidding me? What is this thing doing out again? Who is going WHERE?!

"I'm sorry Jake, but I'm only going to go away for the weekend and Daddy will be here with you- I'll be back before you know it. I'm just running down to Cleveland for a couple of days."

But you know that Daddy never remembers to feed us on time, and he never gives us treats at bed time!

"I'll remind him, and I really will be back on Sunday. We're almost done with all the traveling."

ALMOST?! What do you mean almost?

"Well there's one last little trip next weekend, just for a few days. Then we'll be home for a good long while - I promise."

Well, Mommy I'm very disappointed with you - you're just lucky I like Daddy more. And you'd better be sure to wave to all our friends when you go by - there's the Furry Kids, the Island Cats, Parker, Mr. Hendrix and Riley & Tiki - don't forget!

And thank goodness our wonderful Swap n' Tails package from Samantha and Mr. Tigger arrived to keep us busy! And they sent a neat-o toy for Georgie too!

We hope everykitty has a better fourth of July than we are!

Thursday Thirteen #16

We thought we would preempt this weeks Practical Thursday for some pictures of all the places Mommy and Daddy went (without us - as you know).

1. The Route:

2. Entering Ohio:

3. Welcome to Pennsylvania:

4. Hershey, PA (they went to the hotel - Mommy loves interior design, then they went to the beautiful gardens and Chocolate World):

5. Gettysburg Museum:

6. Gettysburg Battlefield, the Devil's Den:

7. Lancaster County (they went to Strasburg and other Amish farm areas):

8. Valley Forge:

9. Eeeek! Vishus Deer at Valley Forge (that would have been scary if we'd been there!):

10. The Liberty Bell:

11. Independence Hall:

12. Entering New York:

13. Niagara Falls:

They said it was lots of fun, and Mommy and Daddy can't wait to get back there and see more - but we say that they'd better stay put!

Replaced!

We've been replaced! And not just by other kitties, but two little beans and a woofie! Oh the indignity of it all!

Mommy and Daddy's friends are out of town for a week, so they are moving in with the little beans to take care of them. So that means we're stuck here at home with out them. Oh sure, they're only a few doors down the street and they say they're going to stop home two or three times a day - but it's not like actually having them home! There is a bright side though, they are taking George at night so we can play all night long without getting chased by her.

But who are we going to sleep on in the middle of the night? What if we want our breakfast before they get home in the morning? When are we going to get our play time in? And how are we supposed to go outside if no one is here to watch us? Obviously they didn't really think this whole thing through!

And the very worst part of all of this is that we might not be able to visit all our friends very much this week!

Guess I'll just sit here and look ticked off till I get some treats!

The Rare Tuxie Bird

Daddy: "Hey Hon, could you pass me the binoculars?"
Mommy: "Sure, what are you looking at?"
Daddy: "There's a huge bird in that tree over there."
Mommy: "Oh, I see it - what kind is it?"

Daddy: "It looks like the very rare White Footed Tuxie bird!"

Big Weekend!

It's a big weekend around here, starting today!

Today is George Washington's birthday - and we love to celebrate it! Yep, that first president of ours was something special.

All right, not really, we love to celebrate Bert's birthday!!!! He's 2 today!!! So have a slice of Nip Birthday cake and a Niptini, maybe stay and play awhile!

Bert's Birthday

So we'll be celebrating all Friday with him, but that doesn't really add up to a whole weekend - so we'll have to think about something else to celebrate...

The wonderful Miss Peach gave us this wonderful award!

We wanted to pass it on to the Cat Blogosphere, the Tuxedo Gang Hideout, the Gorgeous Gingers and the Coats of Many Colors (and the soon to be formed Tough A** Torties!) - all of the wonderful, supportive groups of the kitty blogging world that got us all started in the first place. We'd also like to pass it on to Captain Jack and Sir Dante (not just because Dante happens to be the most dashing Pirate Cat) - we started blogging about the same time, they were one of our first blogging friends and we've been "blogging buddies" ever since!

Ok - still not enough? How about the fact that it's our Mommy's birthday on Saturday - and she's gonna be...

Ok now kitties, we don't need to tell everyone how old I'm going to be
.

All right we'll just say she hasn't hit the big 40 yet, but she keeps getting closer :-). Daddy is taking her out for an all day adventure, we're not sure what's going to happen, but they are both pretty excited about it.

Is that enough? That seems like a lot to celebrate, but we'll do our best!

Happy Weekend Everykitty!

Thursday Thirteen #11

This Thursday Thirteen is for our Daddy.... Thirteen Reasons we need a water fountain:

1. We really do prefer fresh water to old water.

2. If we had a fountain we wouldn't make you change our water two and three times a day.

3. If we had a fountain Bert wouldn't have to get his bum wet sitting in the laundry sink to drink.

4. We wouldn't knock over the dog's water pitcher trying to get a drink.

5. George wouldn't get mad at us for stealing her water.

6. You wouldn't have to yell at us for getting in the kitchen sink after dinner.

7. We'd waste less water because Mommy wouldn't have to leave both bathroom sinks dribbling every morning.

8. Maybe if we had a fountain Pearl could play in that instead of splashing her feet in your coffee in the morning.

9. Jake wouldn't have to get his big floofy ruff all wet trying to drink out of the sink.

10. Jake and Bert wouldn't play king of the vanity when they both try to drink at the same time.

11. Mommy wouldn't have to referee the fights between Jake and Bert when they try to drink at the same time.

12. They really aren't that expensive (see!).

13. We really, really, really want one!

Thanks for listening Daddy!

- Pearl, Bert, Jake and Mommy

P.S. - Thanks everykitty for your nice thoughts yesterday, it really helped Mommy on a rough day!

Happy Gotcha Day Pearl!

Pearl's Mommy here today, it's Pearl's gotcha day today so I thought I'd tell the story of how we got her!

Two years ago we decided to get a new kitten. We had been without a "P" kitty for a while (it's hard to be PB&J without a P) and were ready for a new edition. I had been researching rescue groups on PetFinder for a while, and finally found a picture of a little floofy tortoiseshell kitten that caught my eye. I called the lady immediately and asked about the kitten named Domino. She said that she was still getting over an upper respiratory infection, but if we wanted to come the next weekend she could probably be adopted.

So Friday night came and we were both so excited for the next morning, we sat down with Jake and Basil (this was before Bert) and George and told them that we were going to be bringing them a new little sister. We were happy that PB&J would be back together again, they seemed less than thrilled! When Saturday came we awoke to a winter wonderland - it had snowed 6 inches overnight, but we braved the weather, cleared the driveway and and got in the car for the hour drive to the shelter.

Once we got there we met with the lady and met Domino, her eyes were a bit gooey still and she was very skittish. When we approached her she ran away and hid with her sister. All of a sudden we weren't sure that she was the right one. So we sat and played with all the other kittens - seeing which would be the one to come home with us. I kept looking at Domino, disappointed since she was the one I had had my heart set on, but clearly she didn't want us.

As I was trying to decide between two little black kittens my hubby, knowing that I was having a hard time deciding, went back to Domino and just picked her up! He talked to her and pet her a bit, then all of a sudden yelled to me "Hey Honey, she's licking me!". So I rushed over and sure enough she was purring and licking his fingers (which she still does when she's happy) - we both turned to the lady and said "We'll take her!".

That's how we got our Pearl, and we couldn't be happier! Happy Gotcha Day Little One!

Much Love,
Mommy

P.S. We only just read about dear Caesar, tomorrow we will do our Tuxie Tuesday to honor him.

Oh What A Day!

Wowee! It's been quite a day around here! First, Mommy and Daddy got home last night. Second, George didn't come home from the kennel till this morning, so we got some serious Mommy and Daddy time. Third, we got a bunch of presents from our Nana and Papa - three bags of greenies and a bunch of fuzzy mice. Fourth, Mommy and Daddy let us open our stockings from Santa, that was really great! We got a bunch of cool stuff, fuzzy mice, treats, a new laser pointer and a couple of long feather toys. Fifth, and most importantly we got to open our Secret Paws (it came while Mommy and Daddy were away - and we waited so patiently to open it)!

Thank you sooooooooooo very much Nymphadora Tonks of the Fluffy Tribe! We love it - and what an amazing package! We got a couple of catnip toys, a huge bag of Catnip, a fuzzy mouse, a pretty pink ball (which has already been lost under the sofa once) and the best part - beautiful hand made blankets for each of us!!! Here are some of the pictures...

Here's George opening her stocking and her present from Nana and Papa.

Here's Pearl checking out her treats from Santa.

Jake enjoys his new blankie from Nymphadora.

Here's Bert checking out the haul of presents!

Here's all our wonderful Secret Paws presents (and Pearl, she won't stay off the new blankets!)

So, now we're all just relaxing at home, George is tired from having such a good time at the kennel, and we're sleeping off the nip that we got earlier. Mommy and Daddy are going out later, so it will be a quiet evening for us. Well, except for Pearl - she's heading out on her New Year's date with Dante (she's been preening all day!).

We hope every kitty has a wonderful New Year's celebration!

Woo Hoo!

Since we're already trading Holiday cards with a few other kitties we managed to convince Mommy to make us our own cards to send out! So we won't have to share the family card, it will be just for/from us.

So if you would like to swap Holiday Cards please email us at pbandjkitties AT gmail DOT com

We're looking forward to helping Mommy - even though we don't have thumbs (hope none of you mind a little extra kitty hair)!

Wordy Wednesday

We've been thinking and thinking about Miss Peach's Box of Life Meme, and we've finally come up with our answers. Also, we're allowing George and Mommy and Daddy to join in - yep, it's that important that we thought we should share.

Now there are some things that we all would put in like: Mommy and Daddy, our safe house, our puffy beds and the like, so we decided to list the things that are special to us individually.

Pearl:
  • The nice lady that runs the shelter that got me to my Forever home.
  • My distinctive voice that I use to tell every one what I want.
  • Playing "Love and Chasing Mouses" with Mommy - where I chase the fuzzy mouse then bring it back to get a cuddle.
  • My puffy furs that keep me warm when it's cold outside.
  • All my fuzzy mice that I eat the tails off and play with.
  • The down blanket on the back of the sofa that I love to sleep on.

Bert:
  • The same nice lady that Pearl mentioned, I came from the same shelter.
  • The white tip on the end of my tail, Mommy always kisses it.
  • The Sun Room floor where I sit and watch the birdies for hours.
  • My fuzzy string toy that I love to chase and do flips for.
  • My Sisters George and Pearl - I love to play with them.

Jake:
  • My strong will to live, for finding my Mommy the day I got separated from my kitty family.
  • The wonderful people who make stinky goodness.
  • My big puffy "pants" - when I'm lying on my back both Mommy and Daddy love to grab them and say how cute I am.
  • Wrestling with Daddy on the big bed - we do it every morning.
  • Fresh laundry and making the bed, ever since I was little those have been two of my favorite games.
  • My big sister and brother, Purdy and Basil - the kittens never knew them, but they raised me to be a very good "head of the house" ManCat.

George:
  • My toy basket, it has every toy a pup could ever want.
  • My "Buster Cube", Mommy fills it with treats to keep me busy when they go out
  • Our fenced in back yard - not many doggies are lucky enough to have their own part of the yard.
  • All the kitties, the new ones and the old ones - they're always so much fun.

Mommy and Daddy:
  • All the wonderful people in the world that that take care of lost and injured animals everywhere.
  • The different vets that have taken such good care of all our animal companions over the years.
  • Our sweet angel kitties that have gone over the bridge.
  • Our wonderful home filled with fur, meowing, barking, running and playing - it's the best place on earth to be.

- Pearl, Bert, Jake, George, Mommy and Daddy

We'd all like to send a special thank you to Miss Peach, this was a special Meme from a special little kitty, thank you.

Fundraising Friday

Now we try not to be too picky when it comes to the stinky goodness, but we don't love beef flavor and we don't love the gravy kinds. So sometimes we turn our noses up at a new flavor and Mommy puts the extra cans in the pantry. We were never sure what she planned to do with them since we wouldn't eat them.

Then we told her about the fundraising that Artsy Cat was doing, and she remembered that she needed to donate all that good stuff to the shelter. So on Wednesday she took all of the stinky goodness from the pantry along with a bunch of food she picked-up at the market to the Blue Water Area Humane Society for all the homeless kitties - so that they would have a nice Thanksgiving.

While she was there she talked to a nice lady about volunteering, so now she's going to help them find homes for all those homeless kitties and woofies. We know that she'd give money if she could, but giving her time is pretty great - we're proud of her.

Well, just as long as she doesn't bring one of those kitties or woofies home.

Mommy Monday

She's home! Yay!

We had a good enough time with Daddy, but we really do need our Mommy. At first everything was fine, but by the third night we were all up on the bed trying to get a cuddle with Dad. Usually there's not enough room for all three of us, but with Mommy gone, we all got up there.

Mommy brought us treats from a special fancy pet store since Daddy said we were such good kitties. But he was pretty good too! Daddy let us out when we asked, and he gave us lots of treats for coming in when he called, and he let us sleep on him at night (usually we only sleep on Mommy).

The best part is that she spent all day with us today! She was supposed to go to work, but she took a red-eye home and said she was too tired to go in. We spent the whole day laying in the bed with her, helping her with the laundry and keeping as close to her as we could.

I missed my Mommy so much that I went out and got her a present! I put a big, fat mourning dove on the porch for her, but Daddy said he wasn't sure she'd appreciate it and took it away. Now I don't have anything to give her as a welcome home present!
