Thursday Thirteen

It's been a while since we've done a T13, so we thought maybe we'd do one today!

But then we got to thinking, what should we "thirteen"? And then we realized that we could make this a Tattle Tail/Thursday 13 (mwahahaha!)

13 Things that we've been doing since Mommy and Daddy have been to lame to clean-up since the last Basement Flood:

1. Racing up and down the rolled-up carpet, it's crazy fun!

2. Pearl's been sleeping on a paint drop cloth that's usually in the tool closet (that was yesterday's picture).

3. Bert likes using the stacks of books to hide from the birds when he's "window shopping".

4. Jake is enjoying clawing the extra carpet pad.

5. George may have aided and abetted Pearl in chewing an electrical cord.

6. We've all been in the pantry (we're never allowed to do that)!

7. There are tons of boxes to hop on to - and into.

8. The bookcases are in still empty and in the middle of the room so we can get up in the rafters more easily!

9. Mommy's dolls are out for us to play with (boy, did Bert get in trouble for that)!

10. All the dvds are piled up, but boy do they fly when you try to jump on them (and they make a big noise that brings Mommy and Daddy running).

11. The blanket basket that Mommy tries to keep away from us has been sitting in the hall - it sure is a cozy spot.

12. Did we mention all the great boxes!!!

13. And Bert loves the step stool sitting next to the kitty tree - all the better to get to the top.

I bet after Mommy reads this list she's going to be so embarrassed that she'll get everything cleaned up right away hee hee hee!

Thursday Thirteen #17

It's been a while since we've done a Thursday Thirteen - so we thought that we'd do one! This week we've got Thirteen things we love about Fall.
  1. Cooler Evenings - with all our floof (well, not Bert) we don't get so hot sitting outside.

  2. Rainy Days - there's nothing like curling up in a kitty cup and watch the rain come down.

  3. Rainy Nights - rainy days get better at night, when we stay in and snuggle with Mommy and Daddy.

  4. Down Lap Quilts - we've got two of them, one for Mommy and one for Daddy. They are so snuggly and warm, and we love sleeping on them during the day.

  5. The Down Comforter on the Big Bed - with the cooler nights, Mommy always brings out the big fluffy comforter on the bed.

  6. The Hot Air Blow-y Boxes - we love it when we can sit next to the boxes in the wall and the hot air blows out.

  7. Our Kitty Cups - most of summer our fuzzy kitty beds are a bit too warm, once the temperatures start coming down we love curling up in them.

  8. Falling Leaves - we know our Daddy hates them, but we love playing in them!

  9. Acorns - Daddy hates them too, but we have a great game with Mommy where she tosses them down the lawn and we chase them.

  10. Sleepy Animals - some of our little fuzzy snacks friends get a little slower this time of year, which means we can still bring Mommy great presents.

  11. Going Under Cover - no, not like a spy! When it gets cool out we all love to dig in the covers and curl up under the blankets in the big bed.

  12. Weekends - with the end of the warm weather, it means that Mommy and Daddy stay home more weekends with us.

  13. Fires in the Fireplace - we saved the best for last, we love sitting in the living room and warming our toes and tummies by the fire.

12. Entering New York:

13. Niagara Falls:

They said it was lots of fun, and Mommy and Daddy can't wait to get back there and see more - but we say that they'd better stay put!

Thursday Thirteen #15 - The Things We Do For Love

Every once and a while we don't get the love we need and deserve. I know it seems crazy, but sometimes Mommy and Daddy get too "busy" and we need to demand some love! So today we thought we would share some of the things we do to get love and attention.

1. Yell at Mommy or Daddy like a baby Pterodactyl - Jake (also works at breakfast or dinner)

2. Lay down and then put my floofy tail and pants in the air - Pearl

3. Drop a toy in a lap, then crawling up to "get it" - George

4. Dig under the covers - Jake

5. Sit on the ottoman and stare at Mommy - Bert

6. Headbutt legs, shoulders, what ever I can find - Jake

7. Put the lickey/bittey on Mommy or Daddy's fingers - Pearl

8. "Knead Dough" on Daddy - Jake

9. Whine and look sad until I'm invited up on a lap - George

10. Slink up to the big bed, and snuggle with Mommy - Bert

11. Burrow behind Mommy and dig into her shirt - Pearl

12. Sit and chirp at Mommy - Bert

13. Sit and make blinky eyes at who ever is looking (guaranteed to get you picked up and snuggled!) - Pearl, Bert or Jake

What do you kitties do for love?

-Pearl, Bert, Jake and George

Thursday Thirteen #14 - A Holiday We Like

It's not that we don't like holidays, but there are a number of them that we don't like. Halloween means that we can't go out and there are people at our door all night long. Christmas and Hanukkah means that Mommy and Daddy go away for a week. And Fourth of July is way too loud for us!

Now Easter, that's a holiday we can get behind - and here's why:

1. Easter means spring is here.
2. Easter is always on a Sunday, which means Mommy and Daddy are home.
3. Easter means eggs!
4. Easter is Mommy's favorite holiday
5. Easter means that it's warmer out so we can go outside.
6. There's lots of chicks around (well, they are usually candy but they're still chick-hens!).
7. Easter is usually just Mommy and Daddy, so it's a nice family day.
8. Easter means HAM or sometimes Lamb!!!!
9. Usually we get new toys for Easter - maybe from the Easter Bunny?
10. Easter is always on a Sunday, which means a big breakfast and Mommy and Daddy always share.
11. Easter means that Mommy and Daddy have dinner in the dining room, so we can try to get on the table.
12. Apparently there's an Easter Bunny, we haven't seen him, but we'd like to find out more about him!
13. Did we mention the HAM!

Oh, and Happy First Day of Spring to everykitty!

Thursday Thirteen #11

This Thursday Thirteen is for our Daddy.... Thirteen Reasons we need a water fountain:

1. We really do prefer fresh water to old water.

2. If we had a fountain we wouldn't make you change our water two and three times a day.

3. If we had a fountain Bert wouldn't have to get his bum wet sitting in the laundry sink to drink.

4. We wouldn't knock over the dog's water pitcher trying to get a drink.

5. George wouldn't get mad at us for stealing her water.

6. You wouldn't have to yell at us for getting in the kitchen sink after dinner.

7. We'd waste less water because Mommy wouldn't have to leave both bathroom sinks dribbling every morning.

8. Maybe if we had a fountain Pearl could play in that instead of splashing her feet in your coffee in the morning.

9. Jake wouldn't have to get his big floofy ruff all wet trying to drink out of the sink.

10. Jake and Bert wouldn't play king of the vanity when they both try to drink at the same time.

11. Mommy wouldn't have to referee the fights between Jake and Bert when they try to drink at the same time.

12. They really aren't that expensive (see!).

13. We really, really, really want one!

Thanks for listening Daddy!

- Pearl, Bert, Jake and Mommy

P.S. - Thanks everykitty for your nice thoughts yesterday, it really helped Mommy on a rough day!

Thursday Thirteen #10

Alright, alright - so Pearl let the "cat" out of the bag and now everyone knows that I have a kitty crush on Tazo!

So I thought I'd do a Thursday Thirteen list to prove what a perfect match Tazo and I are:

1. We're about the same age - I'm about to be two, Tazo is already two.
2. We both love woofies.
3. I am gainfully employed as a report for the TGH (so I can buy plenty of nip and temptations).
4. She loves cereal and I love cereal (lots of milk - no oatmeal please)
5. She matches her woofie and I match my woofie.
6. She's Grey and White and I'm Black and White
7. We both have grumpy big ManCat brothers.
8. She has a Mitten shape on her back - I have white mittens.
9. We both live in the Mitten state!
10. She likes to play Thundering Herd of Elephants - I sound like a thundering herd of elephants all by myself.
11. Neither one of us like snow.
12. She has a little grey tip on one toe and I have a little white tip on my tail.
13. We both have microchips - so she could always find me and I could always find her!

So, if that doesn't prove that I'm worthy of the sweet Tazo I don't know what will.

I gotta go now - Pearl's been in hiding since yesterday cause she knows I'm gonna put the smack-down on her! Didn't Sammy say we were supposed to practice our whapping?!?!

Thursday Thirteen #8 Resolutions

We just talked with Mommy and Daddy out in California, they're having a good time - but they miss us. We told them that we missed them too, but in turth we've been too busy to miss them!

We've already stopped by Dante and Capt. Jack's for some nip and time by the fire (it was wonderful to cuddle with you date - Purrs, Pearl). Then we headed over to Parker's to play for a while. We still need to stop by to see Zippy, Sadie & Speedy's and Abby & Boo's place. Though we've got to hurry Mommy and Daddy will be back before New Year's so we need to get in the rest of our visits!

We're doing ok with out pet sitters - but they kid beans sometimes come down and we run and hide when they come to feed us. We like it much better when it's the adult Beans (they don't scare us as much). Plus the kid beans always try to pick us up!

While we were checking in with Mommy and Daddy they told us we should start thinking about our New Year's resolutions, so we'll think on that. In the mean time here are a list of resolutions that we think Mommy and Daddy should do:

1. they will feed us more stinky goodness
2. they will open the nip container waaayyyyy more often
3. Mommy will wake up on time for our breakfast
4. they will make the dog stay out more so we can get more lap time
5. they will leave the top of the treat jar off more often
6. they will spend more time playing with us every day
7. they will put a kitty tree in every room of the house
8. they will not let those kids pet sit us any more
9. they will stay home all day more often (not everyday, because we need our time too)
10. Mommy will get all her stuff out of the back bedroom so it can really be our room
11. Daddy will finish the basement project so that we can have our great sleep spot back
12. they will stay in bed more on weekends so we can get our snuggle time
this is the important one...
13. they will not leave us for Christmas anymore!

Hope you're all having a wonderful Holiday Season - we'll be back visiting everyone soon!

Thursday Thirteen #7 - Merry Christmas

Since we have friends all over the globe now (who'd have thunk - we don't even know the kitty next door all that well!) we thought we'd do a Thursday Thirteen of different ways to say "Merry Christmas"!

  1. Mele Kalikimaka (Hawaiian)
  2. Joyeux Noël (French)
  3. Fröhliche Weihnachten (German)
  4. Natale allegro (Italian)
  5. Веселое Рождество (Russian)
  6. Feliz Navidad (Spanish)
  7. Happy Christmas (United Kingdom)
  8. Christmas Alegre (Portuguese)
  9. Καλά Χριστούγεννα (Greek)
  10. Vrolijke Kerstmis (Dutch)
  11. Nollaig shona (Irish Gaelic)
  12. shèng dàn kuài lè (Chinese)
  13. felix dies Nativitatis (Latin)

We know about Mele Kalikimaka, because that's what our Mommy says all the time. But it's not because we're from Hawaii, it's because one of her favorite Christmas Carols is "Mele Kalikimaka" by Jimmy Buffet (or Bing Crosby).

Our Mommy and Daddy are leaving soon to go to California for Christmas, so we won't be around to comment as much. Maybe we'll teleport over to a few of our friends to spend the holidays!

Merry Christmouse and Happy New Year to everykitty!

Thursday Thirteen #6 - Lists for Santa

Since it's getting close to time for Santa Paws, we figured that we would do our Christmas Lists for the Thursday Thirteen. At first we thought we could all do a separate list, but Mommy says since we all ask for the same thing that we should just do one, we did figure we would share with George though - cause other wise how will Santa Paws know what she wants?

  1. A New Kitty Tree - Bert

  2. Another Kitty Kup - Bert

  3. New Feather Ball Toys - Jake

  4. A Big Bag of Rattly Fuzzy Mice - Pearl

  5. A Gizzy Quilt - Pearl, Bert and Jake

  6. Greenies and Temptations - Pearl, Bert and Jake

  7. Lots of Firewood - Pearl

  8. A New Baby Gate (to keep George out of our room) - Jake

  9. A Water Fountain - Bert and Jake

  10. A Kitty Door (so I can go out whenever I want) - Pearl

  11. Bacon, Turkey, Ham and Chicken - Pearl, Bert, Jake and George

  12. A Heated Bed - George

  13. A Really big Rawhide Bone - George

We'll keep our paws crossed that Santa Paws gets our list and then gets everything on it! We'll be good, well, we'll try anyway.

Thursday Thirteen #5 - Why I Shouldn't Run Outside in the Snow

I love going outside - that's no secret. Who wouldn't? There's mice and birds and squirrels and all sorts of good smells and things to do and eat!

Lately Mommy and Daddy haven't been letting us out as often, something about it being cold out and snowing. I keep telling them that I've got floofy fur and tufts in my toes - I'll be fine.

Yesterday I ran out of the front door before Mommy could stop me - and I ran and romped and played. But there was a little problem with my plan, Mommy and Daddy had to go to work and so they weren't home to open the door for me when I wanted to come in.

So here's my 13 reasons why it's not a good idea to run out the door:

1. When Mommy says it's snowing, it means bits of very cold water are coming down from the sky.

2. When Daddy says it's cold out it means that it's under 30 degrees.

3. I got pine pitch in my pants because I hid under the pine tree to stay warm.

4. I sat by the front door for hours hollering for Mommy or Daddy (that's what the neighbor said).

5. Since we're not allowed outside in winter, Mommy had Daddy take away the little shelter under the deck (the birds and squirrels were making a mess of it), so I didn't have a warm place to hide.

6. There aren't many mice or other creatures to hunt on a snowy day - they all stay in their homes (like I should have).

7. I missed my warm kitty cups where I sleep during the day and I couldn't get eat my crunchies or have any water.

8. I had to hide behind our little spruce tree when it got really windy.

9. I got burs in my tummy fur from running around in the weeds.

10. I just know that my brothers were inside doing all the things that I should have been doing, (you know napping, eating, playing).

11. Mommy and Daddy worried all day - they even asked the neighbor to check and see if I was ok.

12. I got all my floofy furs dirty trying to crawl under the wood pile to stay warm.

13. My Mommy had to leave work early to come home and rescue me, cause she was very worried.

I'm sorry Mommy and Daddy. I promise to at least try and listen to you next time!

-Pearl

P.S. I'm sure he already got one, but I'd like to give my special golden rose to Dante, he's so dashing!

Thursday Thirteen #4 - Why We Love the Kitchen

With Thanksgiving last week there are a lot of good smells that have been coming out of the kitchen. Most of the time we prefer the rest of the house, since it's softer and all our beds and toys are. But we realized that there are a lot of really great things about the kitchen, so we figured that we would do our Thursday Thirteen about our Kitchen.

1. Our Stinky Goodness is kept in the cabinet over the stove (uh oh, looks like we might be running low)

2. Mommy keeps a nice full dish of crunchies right next to the water bowl

3. Our Stinky Goodness bowls are in the kitchen, right next to the crunchies

4. The "Great White Feeding Parent" is there (that's what we call the refrigerator - Jake loves the it more than Mommy some times, he knows that all sorts of good stuff comes out of there)

5. There's a comfy little carpet to sit on and watch Mommy cook

6. If we watch really carefully we see Mommy drop stuff we can sneak in and steal it off the floor (sometimes she drops stuff on purpose too!)

7. Jake likes the butter, if Mommy and Daddy aren't careful to keep it covered he jumps up on the counters in the middle of the night and licks it!

8. Our treat jar is right there on the counter

9. Speaking of treats - Mommy keeps a huge Tupperware container of special home-grown cat nip in the back of the refrigerator! Jake knows it's there and sometimes tries to crawl in!

10. Cheese, the cheese is kept in the kitchen - and we love cheese!

11. We have our "Bad Cat of the Day" Calendar

12. The door to the basement is in the kitchen, and that's the way to our litter boxes

13. It's always warm in the evening after Mommy cooks dinner

-Pearl, Bert and Jake

We woke up a bit late this morning, and that gave us an idea for today's Thursday Thirteen. We're gonna list the thirteen best places we like to sleep!

  2. In the rafters - Jake
  3. Next to the heater vent in the dinning room - Pearl
  4. On the Big Bed, under the covers - Jake
  5. On the seat by the front door (all the better to try and sneak out) - Pearl
  6. In the kitty cup next to the Big Bed - Bert

  8. In the blanket basket - Bert
  9. On the soft cubes downstairs - Pearl
  10. The kitty hammock - Jake

  12. In the living room chairs under the down blankets - Pearl
  13. In the big bed with three kitties with me - Mom
- Pearl, Bert, Jake and Mom

Thursday Thirteen #2

Thirteen Reasons Why We Hate Halloween:

1. We don't like people coming into our house - it makes us want to run under the bed.

2. We don't like thinking that people are coming into our house and then not coming in - it makes us run under the bed for no reason and then we get very tired.

3. We don't like people, but we really don't like little goblins that yell.

4. George barks every time someone comes to the door -it makes us think we need to run under the bed.

5. George goes into a tuck-butt run any time the doorbell rings and that's very scary.

6. We're not allowed to go out at all - not in the day time or the night time (even after all the little candy-grabbing goblins have gone).

7. There are no Catnip candies in the bowl for us.

8. Mom gets up and down all night, so we can't settle in for a cuddle.

9. Mom puts candles all around the house and yells at us for sniffing them to see what they are.

10. There are all sorts of scary noises coming from the street, cars and little goblins - scary.

11. Dad always tries to put one of us in a carved pumpkin - and that's not right!

12. Mom and Dad sometimes forget about our dinner since they are worried about when the the goblins will come to the door.

13. Did we mention not being able to go out?!

We're glad it only comes once a year, but we'd just as soon skip it next year!

- Pearl, Bert and Jake

Thursday Thirteen #1

Wow, this is our very first Thursday Thirteen! I think we'll do what Captain Jack and Dante did, give you the important info about us.

1. Jake is the oldest - he's five and Mom and Dad have had him since he was three weeks old (here's a picture of him from he was brand new - he's putting the bites on Mom).

2. Pearl is the middle kitty, Mom calls her Princess or Princess Pearl. Our Granddaddy calls her Pearly-Mae after Pearl Bailey.

3. Bert is the newest addition, he's only a year and a half old but he's the most distinguished (at least that's what Mom says). He was almost named Butler, cause he's so distinguished - but Mom didn't want every one calling him "Butt".

4. Pearl and Bert were adopted from the same nice lady that runs a shelter just for kitties. We were both born here in Michigan, but Jake was born in California - where Mom and Dad used to live.

5. Mom and Dad have a dog too - George. She's a girl dog with a boy's name, everyone thinks that's funny. She loves all us kitties, but Bert's the only one that loves her back. Pearl like to put the smack-down on George and Jake just keeps away. (here's a picture of Bert and Georgie hanging out).

6. We are in-door out-door kitties. We live inside, but we go out for a couple of hours in the evening to sniff the breeze, mark our turf, hunt - you know, kitty stuff. On weekends if it's nice out we get to go out for longer. Now that winter is coming we won't go out as much - since none of us really like the snow.

7. Jake and Pearl both have long soft hair, so Mom calls them the "Double Puffers" since they both have puffy pants (which is a pain when they get mats, but they're so pretty most of the time).

8. Since Pearl and Bert are the youngest and were adopted very close together Mom and Dad call them "the Kittens". But when they are talking about all three of us they call us "the Babies" (the dog just gets called "the Pup" all the time).

9. We are all very good hunters - too good Mom says. Pearl is better at mice, Bert is good with both mice and birds (and sometimes chipmunks) and Jake is better at birds. Mom and Dad call us the "Woodland Creature Death Squad" - cause there have been days where we come back with LOTS of presents for them. (Here's a picture of us looking for a snack to bring home)

10. We have toy baskets in three rooms of the house - just in case we get bored. And we've got beds (or special soft spots) in every room. And we have super black and white cubes like Jasper McKitten-Cat. That's right, we own the joint!

11. Jake and Bert like to drink really fresh water - like out of the faucet fresh! Pearl only watches them, it could because she doesn't like getting all the water on her face.

12. Pearl is the littlest - but everyone is scared of her, she's the boss of all of us. She smacks us in the nose when we're all waiting for breakfast or dinner. Jake likes to chase her around the house, but I think it's just because he gets jealous when Dad talks to her too much.

13. We're very spoiled kitties and we're very okay with that!

- Pearl, Bert and Jake
