Mommy is Broken

We just found out that our Granddaddy passed away last night. And now our Mommy is very broken. She's going to be gone for a while, she has to go back to California to be with her family - so we'll be gone for a while too. Hopefully we'll be able to visit and post soon - but right now we gotta go sit on our Mommy and purr a lot.

ManCats Monday

Mondays aren't always so bad - sometimes we get a little play time with Daddy.

And that's never bad!

We Accepted the Dare

Well, Karl dared us! And since we did the first part of the IDYA #4, we figured that it only made sense that we do the second part as well!

Mommy and Daddy try to do as much as they can for the environment - they get bills emailed instead of regular mail, they've switched light bulbs to the compact florescent and they really want to get a hybrid car. But we can't really help with any of those things. But we found things that we can help!

Here's the special re-usable shopping bags that Mommy uses (and we help unload). She even has a special cooler bag for cold stuff!

And here's our paper recycling bin, the plastic and glass is for outside. No we have to admit that we frequently take stuff out rather than put stuff in but it's the thought that counts right?!
Hope lots of kitties see how easy it is to go green!

Meow Like a Pirate Day

Ahoy, me Hearties! We have signed aboard the Black Furrball as deckhands for today's mission! So we are off to join our shipmates and set sail.

If you're worried that there's not enough room aboard the Black Furrball, George has readied her sail boat the George and she, Bert and the woofies (of course George's first mate Beaux) will sail along side the Black Furrball in their adventure!

So let's weigh anchor and hoist the mizzen!

Well, I would have some thoughts - but apparently I've lost my head!

Wordy Wednesday

Look what my Mommy did to my floofs!

I don't know what I did to deserve all that. Just 'cause a gal chases a mouse into a bramble full of burrs does not mean that I should have to sit still for 20 minutes and have my floofs pulled and cut! (If you bigify you can see the tons of burrs stuck to my collar too!) Now I've got some short patches in my floofs, and Mommy is calling me Princess Burr Butt.

Oh, I'm soooo embarrassed!

Tuxedo Tuesday

The most pawesomest LadyCat on the planet sent me a present! My sweet little teacup Tazo sent me a wonderful package of treats and toys and - this part is the best - a picture of her!!!!

Jake tried to steal every thing, but I whapped him and then Mommy moved everything so that I could enjoy all my presents all to my self!

Oh and the treats, the treats - they are amazing! They are the Wysong Dream Treats and if you haven't tried them they are pawesome! We all loved them. Mrs. Tazo's Mommy, you are the greatest!

Thank you my sweet, speckly Mitten Kitten!

Mourning on Monday

Goodbye Sweet Pixie, we'll miss you. But in honor of you, we tried some 'naners and we decided that you were right, they are tasty. Now whenever we see a 'naner we'll think of you!

A Pets Prayer
If it should be, that I grow frail and weak,
And pain should keep me from my sleep,
Then, you must do what must be done
For this, the last battle, can't be won.
Don't let your grief stay your hand,

For this day more than the rest,
Your love and friendship stand the test.
We've had so many years,
What is to come can hold no fear.
You'd not want me to suffer, so
When the time comes, please let me go.

Take me where my needs they'll tend,
Only, stay with me to the end
And hold me firm and speak to me
Until my eyes no longer see.
I know in time you'll see it is a kindness you do for me
Although my tail its last has waved,
From pain and suffering I've been saved.

Don't grieve it should be you who this thing decides to do.
We've been so close, we two, these years,
Don't let your heart hold tears.
SMILE, FOR WE WALKED TOGETHER FOR AWHILE.

Practical Thursday Part Thirteen

And finally we arrive at the very last of our Practical Thursdays, with the last poem of the book of Old Possum's Book of Practical Cats

THE AD-DRESSING OF CATS

You've read of several kinds of Cat,
And my opinion now is that
You should need no interpreter
To understand their character.
You now have learned enough to see
That Cats are much like you and me
And other people whom we find
Possessed of various types of mind.
For some are sane and some are mad
And some are good and some are bad
And some are better, some are worse-
But all may be described in verse.
You've sen them both at work and games,
And learnt about their proper names,
Their habits and their habitat:
But
How would you ad-dress a Cat?

So first, your memory I'll jog,
And say: A CAT IS NOT A DOG.

Now Dogs pretend they like to fight;
They often bark, more seldom bite;
But yet a Dog is, on the whole,
What you would call a simple soul.
Of course I'm not included Pekes,
And such fantastic canine freaks.
The unusual Dog about the Town
Is much inclined to play the clown,
And far from showing too much pride
Is frequently undignified.
He's very easily taken in-
Just chuck him underneath the chin
Or slap his back or shake his paw,
And he will gambol and guffaw.
He's such an easy-going lout,
He'll answer any hail or shout.

Again I must remind you that
A Dog's a Dog-A CAT'S A CAT.

With Cats, some say, one rule is true:
Don't speak till you are spoken to.
Myself, I do not hold with that-
I say, you should ad-dress a Cat.
But always keep in mind that he
Resents familiarity.
I bow, and taking off my hat,
Ad-dress him in this form: O CAT!
But if he is the Cat next door,
Whom I have often met before
(He comes to see me in my flat)
I greet him with and OOPSA CAT!
I've heard them call him James Buz-James-
But we've not got so far as names.
Before a Cat will condescend
To treat you as a trusted friend,
Some little token of esteem
Is needed, like a dish of cream;

And you might now and then supply
Some caviare, or Strassburg Pie,
Some potted grouse, or salmon paste-
He's sure to have his personal taste.
(I know a Cat, who makes a habit
Of eating nothing else but a rabbit,
And when he's finished, licks his paws
So's not to waste the onion sauce.)
A Cat's entitled to expect
These evidences of respect.
And so in time you reach your aim,
And finally call him by his NAME.

So this is this, and that is that:
And there's how you AD-DRESS A CAT.

Man, I know Beins don't like Mondays much, but neither do I. It just means no more quality time with Mommy and Daddy for another week. Sigh...

Floof and Food!

Have I ever told you all that my Mommy's cooking is pretty ok? Well it is! She makes tons of different things and is always trying new recipes to test out on Daddy and us.

The other night Mommy tried out a new recipe and so did I!

It turns out that I am not a fan of Asparagus. I am, however, a fan of licking the olive oil off of it.

In other news, one of the floofiest cats around and our favorite cutie-pie calico gave us this cool award! Thanks Jasper and Tesla!

Here are the rules:
1. The winner can put the logo on his/her blog
2. Link the person you received your award from
3. Nominate at least 7 other blogs
4. Put links of those blogs on yours, and
5. Leave a message on the blogs that you've nominated

As always, it's hard to think of which kitties to pass this on to... But pass it on we must!

1. The Purrageous Pirates - all of 'em!
2. The beautiful Royal Kitties
3. The funny Furry Kids
4. The always creative Karen Jo
5. Our California friends Kodak, Winton 3 Perf and Blossom
6. Our new Tuxie friend Milo
7. And Mommy's little ginger crush Harry

Hope all you kitties have a really great weekend - we plan on doing our best!

Good Bye Texas

Our friend Texas has gone to the bridge and we're so sad to lose another friend. But Mommy said that she knows that the Rainbow Bridge is a beautiful place.

See, here's the sign for it (so no one can get lost):

And here's the view:

Now we know that we kitties don't like water, but isn't it a beautiful place? We just know that all of our friends are safe, happy and healthy over there.

    The Rainbow Bridge

Just this side of heaven is a place called Rainbow Bridge.

When an animal dies that has been especially close to someone here, that pet goes to Rainbow Bridge. There are meadows and hills for all of our special friends so they can run and play together. There is plenty of food, water and sunshine, and our friends are warm and comfortable.

All the animals who had been ill and old are restored to health and vigor. Those who were hurt or maimed are made whole and strong again, just as we remember them in our dreams of days and times gone by. The animals are happy and content, except for one small thing; they each miss someone very special to them, who had to be left behind.

They all run and play together, but the day comes when one suddenly stops and looks into the distance. His bright eyes are intent. His eager body quivers. Suddenly he begins to run from the group, flying over the green grass, his legs carrying him faster and faster.

You have been spotted, and when you and your special friend finally meet, you cling together in joyous reunion, never to be parted again. The happy kisses rain upon your face; your hands again caress the beloved head, and you look once more into the trusting eyes of your pet, so long gone from your life but never absent from your heart.

Then you cross Rainbow Bridge together....

Also, we had planned to give this to Texas today:

We got this for all those really cool cats over at the Manx Mnews - thanks Abby, Boo, Gracie, Ping and Jinx! Besides Texas, we'd like to pass it on to every other kitty - you're all brilliant to us!

Wordy Wednesday

I wanted to start by thanking all the super kitties that stopped by and had some fun at my birthday party yesterday! I hope everykitty had a really great time! Mommy and I will do our best to get around to everyone's bloggie as soon as we can.

But now that the celebration is over, Mommy and I wanted to share a little something special about my birthday. Because there's more than just my birthday that we celebrate on September first.

On the first of September in 2005 my sister Purdy went to the Bridge. She had only been really sick for a few weeks, but she was diagnosed with Lymphoma and it didn't take long before she had to go. She was my Mommy and Daddy's very first kitty and all of our family loved her - our Grandpa was so very sad, and our Auntie was heartbroken along with Mommy and Daddy.

One of the worst parts is that Purdy went to the Bridge on our Auntie and Uncle's wedding anniversary. So it made a happy day very sad.

When Mommy and Daddy adopted me in January I was about three months old, so that would have put my birthday somewhere around October. But my Mommy thought that purrhaps it would be better to celebrate my birthday on September First instead. That way the happy day wouldn't be quite so sad anymore, and Purdy's passing wouldn't be as sad either.

Here's a picture of Purdy from a long time ago:

Thanks for listening kitties - and sharing our special day.

Sigh

Well, today is my birthday. But there's no one here to celebrate with me. Mommy and Daddy have abandoned me to go hang out on the beach with George. Plus it's a holiday weekend so I'm sure that most of my kitty friends won't even be able to come over for a house trashing party!

The good news is that Mommy said we can make it up on Tuesday though, we'll do a big party on Tortie Tuesday! So please join us tomorrow for a big party!
