(Previously) Wordless Wednesday

So this was supposed to be a super, all-me kind of day, but I thought we should tell you what happened with our river. Usually we have a peaceful river in our back yard with tons of grass and shrubs and trees - in the summer it's fun to hunt near and in the winter it freezes solid so that beans can skate and ski on it.

But because of the warm weather on Sunday lots of snow melted and the ice on our river broke up, creating a big ice jam at one of the bridges - and that made the already full river come over it's banks to our house. Mommy and Daddy were up all night Sunday and Monday with pumps and sandbags and lots of coffee trying to keep the water from getting in our house! Happily the fire department managed to get the jam cleared and most of the water went away. Not too much water came in the house, but we are going to need a new carpet.

The good news is that if any of you kitties want to come over for a skating party - our back yard is one big skating rink!

Too Much Water!

Strangely enough, both Mommy and Daddy were home yesterday, but they didn't let us or George out. We think that it may have something to do with this...

Someone turned our yard into a swimming pool/ice rink! It took all of Sunday night and Monday, and the nice men at the fire department, and our super nice friend (with a big water pump) for some of it to go away. Mommy and Daddy are super duper tired and ready to sleep through the new year! Hopefully the water won't come back up and we all can get some rest (I have to tell you there was a lot of snoopervising out the window)!

Make-Up Monday

Well, there is some good news about Mommy and Daddy leaving for a week - they do tons of stuff to try and make up for it!

When they first got home we got tons of treats and pets. And then on Saturday we got brushing, we got to go outside and play around, and then we got to help un-pack the suitcases (which is way more fun than when they pack :-).

The very best thing is that tons of cards and packages came for us and we got to open all of them on Sunday! Just look at this stack of boxes - all for us!

Here's Pearl's Secret Paws from Scooby, Shaggy and Scout. Just look at this great stuff, Mommy didn't even have time to get the card off the pink feather before we attacked it!

And then we all wanted to help out with Bert's package from Wally and Ernie of the Island Cats there was a nip cigar and all of us wanted to get a hold of!

And not to be out done, Spirit & Ezra sent a great bunch of toys to Jake. With a personalized shipping box! Did you notice the gianormous bowl of nip?!

And last but not least, Jake and George got a package from Queen Snickers and Renna. Under this spiffy wrapping paper were treats for George and more toys for us (well, really Jake, but Mommy said we had to share)!

So between all the making up and the fabulous house trashing party - we think we're about ready to forgive Mommy and Daddy (though we may not tell them that)!

Mad ManCat Monday

No matter how much of the suitcase I tried to take up they still left! Can you believe that?!

And now there's so much snow that the pre-teen beans are having trouble getting to feed me. They made it just in time, but sheesh - the things an abandoned ManCat has to put up with!

So to show our displeasure, we're going to be throwing a House Trashing Party Starting RIGHT NOW!!!!!!!! So come on in and trash away, the blinds are perfect for climbing and this sofa over here needs some extra claw marks! And when we're all done, we can all head over to the Hotties' Chrissymouse Eve Party on the CB!

We'll have a great time and make Mommy and Daddy jealous that they had to go to Catifornia!

Tattle Tail Tuesday

Now normally we don't like to tattle on Mommy and Daddy too much, after all they are the providers of stinky goodness, openers of door and laps to nap in. But then this happened - the winds were soooooo crazy this morning that the tree BROKE!

Oh sure, you're thinking how could a Bean do this? Well, trust me - it's their fault. Mommy showed Daddy the crack in the tree months ago, and all summer long they have been looking at the crack thinking that they should do something about it, but they never did. If only they had got the tree trimming guy out, maybe my tree wouldn't be so broken.

Now it may not look too bad in that picture, but get a load of this...

And poor Georgie - the darn tree took out her fence and now she can't run around and play by herself.

Of course the worst news for me is that half of a really great climbing tree is gone and Daddy said that he may have to take down the whole tree! And if they take down the whole tree what are Bert and I supposed to chase around and around and around before we head off into the bramble? And none of us are allowed out until it's all cleaned up.

There is some good news, no Bean or Kitty or Pup was hurt, nor (we think) were any of our bird or squirrel friends. And even though the fence is really broken and there are a bunch of other broken trees, there's no damage to the house.

Whew, it's already a crazy week and Mommy and Daddy still aren't packed or ready to go to Catifornia!

Manic Monday

Well, it's a bit crazy around here. Mommy and Daddy are heading off to Catifornia for the holidays earlier than they expected, so now they are running around preparing to abandon us. Yep, those pre-teen beans are going to be looking out after us starting on Thursday. And as much as we miss Mommy and Daddy, we do try to enjoy our Georgie free time (she'll be headed to Camp on Wednesday night).

So first off today, we're going to apologize for not being able to visit much last week - and now this week as well! We'll do our best to catch up with everyone as soon as we can. We're hoping that they'll leave the laptop so that we can visit while they are away :-)

And now for the rest of the day, we wanted to take care of a little business!

There's the 6th Photo meme from Siena and Chili. You go to your photo file, then find the sixth picture (you may have to go to a sixth folder like we did, but you can figure it out). This one wasn't a very interesting, but we wanted to be true to the spirit of the meme!

It's me playing in our kitty tent - even though you can't see very much of me (ha ha)! Now I know that a lot of kitties have already done this meme, so anykitty that wants to do this can consider themselves tagged.

More importantly, we want to thank our friends the Island Cats for this really cool award!

Thoughts on Thursday

Today we're thinking of our friends and their families - today the Bridge has three new angels. Yesterday both Skeeter of Skeeter, LC and Ayla and Cloud Chaser of the Cafe Cats both went to the Bridge. And now we just found out about Kelly from It's All Good left for the Bridge as well.  We know that they are healthy and whole again now, playing together and watching over their families - but we will miss them.
    A Pets Prayer

If it should be, that I grow frail and weak,
And pain should keep me from my sleep,
Then, you must do what must be done
For this, the last battle, can't be won.
Don't let your grief stay your hand,

For this day more than the rest,
Your love and friendship stand the test.
    We've had so many years,
What is to come can hold no fear.
You'd not want me to suffer, so
When the time comes, please let me go.

Take me where my needs they'll tend,
Only, stay with me to the end
And hold me firm and speak to me
Until my eyes no longer see.
I know in time you'll see it is a kindness you do for me
Although my tail its last has waved,
From pain and suffering I've been saved.

Don't grieve it should be you who this thing decides to do.
We've been so close, we two, these years,
Don't let your heart hold tears.
SMILE, FOR WE WALKED TOGETHER FOR AWHILE.

We've lost good friends and we're sad, but their families are really hurting right now. Please take a moment to visit The Big Thing. Mama-Ann and Kelly's Family and give them some purrs and head-bumpies.

Woofie Wednesday

George was trying to steal my sunbeam (and the heater vent too) again - but I figured maybe we could share it after all!

I know it's crazy, but I sure do love my dog!

Tortie and Tuxie Adventure

Pearl and I had such a wonderful adventure the other day!

First we started off we a fun chase around the brambles (well I had fun chasing Pearl anyway!).

Then the chasing led up the tree - Pearl sure can climb them!

Then I let her come back down and we chased around a bit more, till Pearl found a nice perch on an old log. Meanwhile I decided to climb the willow tree.

This sure is a great tree to climb, lots of spots to grab hold - kinda like those climbing walls that beans have!

I wish Mommy had gotten better pictures, but we were pretty far off in the other yard! In any case, we had a heck of a good time :-)

ManCat Rule Monday

Whew - it was a busy weekend around here! Mommy spent the whole weekend getting the holiday cards done, so of course she needed a lot of snoopervising. And all that work made me tired.

So that leads us to todays rule - If your Mommy makes you work really hard all weekend it's ok to spend all of Monday napping.

Friends on Friday

Look at all the lovely things that Mr. Hendrix sent us for our November Swap 'n Tails!

The theme for the month was brown (which our Mommy completely forgot, duh Mommy) - and everything matches perfectly! Of course Mommy is very excited about the little snowman, she just loves snowmen - but we were excited about the toys.

In fact I didn't even wait for her to finish the pictures - I stole these two off the table before she could take anymore pictures (hee, hee, hee)!

Thanks Hendrix!

Santa Paws

We're doing our best to get ready for Santa Paws!

We've made our lists and mailed them off to the north pole.
We're going to help Mommy get all the decorations up this weekend.
We are due for a bunch of snow, so maybe it will be a white Christmas (which we think Santa would prefer).
We're all signed up for Secret Paws, and we've already sent Mommy out shopping.
And best of all, we're almost done helping Mommy get our Holiday cards made.

Here's the important part - Mommy needs a final tally. So are there any other kitties that want to trade cards with us? That's right, it's your (almost) last chance to get a super-duper handmade PB&J card! So if you're interested, just click on the our email link on the right side of our bloggie - or you can click here and send us your information so we can swap cards.

Wordy Wednesday

Oh, sorry, I'm trying to get all cleaned up, I've got big news! I mean I'm just so excited, I want to look all presentable!

Not only is this the make up post for the last day of the Week of Pearl, but the super, duper Karen Jo gave me my very own limerick (please pay no attention to the fact that Jake and Bert got them too - I'm sure that Karen Jo was just being fair)!

Pearl was feeling a bit neglected.
She didn't get to blog, though she is respected.
She got the blog for a week,
                              Which her interest did peak.
Let's hope that Pearl no longer feels neglected.

Thank you so much Karen Jo for giving me such a perfect end for the Week of Pearl!

Manners on Monday

Mommy calls me Mr. Manners - and for good reason as you can see! I sat ever so patiently in my chair at Thanksgiving dinner, waiting for a little taste of turkey.

Unlike some kitties in my family!

- Bert

P.S. Bert's just jealous because I managed to steal this...
